Faculty Invited to Inclusive Pedagogy Academy Panel Discussion, May 13

OHIO faculty and staff are invited to attend the panel discussion, “Dirty Laundry: Navigating the Messiness of Inclusive Pedagogy and Faculty’s Lived Experiences” from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 13.

  • Register online by May 11 at 11:59 p.m., and you will be emailed information about how to access the event on May 12.

The Inclusive Pedagogy Academy is a collaborative offering of the Office of Instructional Innovation’s Center for Teaching and Learning and the Division of Diversity and Inclusion, with the support of two faculty co-chairs. Inclusive pedagogy honors and celebrates difference within the classroom by engaging faculty in various approaches to teaching and student engagement. Traditional educational practices do not always support students in reaching their full potential. Inclusive pedagogy challenges faculty to think and teach differently.

Faculty involved in the Inclusive Pedagogy Academy have been incorporating various aspects of inclusive pedagogy into their teaching, and are now going to discuss how they navigated the lived realities of this important, but sometimes challenging work. This panel discussion will highlight experiences of faculty who are striving to practice inclusive pedagogy and are examining the impact it has on them as individuals, as well as how they have managed the hurdles. Panelists will provide examples of how they have been able to manage the impact on student evaluations, emotional tolls, and/or tokenization.

To request an ASL interpreter or other accommodation to attend this event, please contact the Women’s Center at womenscenter@ohio.edu no later than May 4.
