Faculty Learning Community on Facilitating Student Career Development

A Faculty Learning Community on Facilitating Student Career Development is open to faculty and staff interested in building confidence and awareness in supporting students’ career development in and out of the classroom. No previous skill or training in this area is necessary for participation.

Applications are being accepted for 2021.

By the end of the FLC experience, participants will:

  • Identify a personal strategy to intentionally engage students in career planning and career development conversations both in and out of the classroom.
  • Communicate examples of when to help students connect with other resources relevant to career development.
  • Review successful career readiness strategies from colleagues in other disciplines.
  • Create an artifact demonstrating the value of a degree in their discipline (e.g., student outcome information, marketing materials for recruiting events).

The deadline to apply for the 2021 FLC is Nov. 20, 2020. All applicants will be notified of their status by the end of fall semester 2020. Meetings will occur monthly during spring and fall semester, based on participant availability. This opportunity is enthusiastically open to faculty and staff working with students on all OHIO campuses. This FLC is hosted by the Center for Teaching and Learning and led by Career and Leadership Development Center staff.
