Sociology-Criminology Alum Enjoys Project Management in Marketing Role

Amanda Reichard

After graduating with her B.A. in Sociology-Criminology from the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University, Amanda Reichard ’13 wasn’t sure what she wanted to do.

From Career Fair to Current Job

She attended the career fair at Ohio University to gain experience talking with business professionals and met recruiters from a printing company.

This led to her first job out of college, a management associate in a leadership development program. After a year, a position opened-up, and she was promoted to an account manager for Vera Bradley and Green Mountain Coffee’s marketing online store.

Reichard worked very closely with Latcha + Associates, which is an all-inclusive marketing and production agency based in Detroit. After a year and a half, she accepted a position at Latcha + Associates within the Print Production department and has been there for almost three years.

She is now a Project Manager on the Audi account for the Customer Relationship Management sector of the business, managing regional and national conquest campaigns. CRM is more or less a form of advertising used to attract new customers, while keeping current customers loyal, all of which drives sales growth.

Project Manager… in Marketing?

In this role, Reichard manages the production of sales campaigns from start to finish, including direct mail, email, on-line advertising, while working with various internal departments, including Strategy, Analytics, Creative, HTML development/QA, and video editing, to adhere to client’s expectations and timelines.

“If you had asked me when I graduated from Ohio University if I would be doing what I am doing now, I would have NEVER in a million years said I would be in marketing!” Reichard exclaims.

Lucky at Work

Her favorite part about working at Latcha + Associates is the culture, which includes a very modern, laid back office with a team oriented structure (no cubicles)! It is also pet-friendly, which means she can bring her seven-month old puppy, Lucky, to work every day.

Distracting? No.

“Lucky is such a good office dog, kind of just chills at my feet while I work all day and lightens the mood when things get stressful.”

Lessons Learned

Reichard has learned a lot in the last few years and sees the opportunities with her current employer as limitless, in part because she learns something new every day.

“I couldn’t be happier than I am today!” she says. “Hard work, dedication, perseverance and believing in myself are what got me to where I am today. Those same things are what made me succeed at Ohio University as well.”

Lessons learned she passes on:

No. 1  You can learn anything – the core values you take away from Ohio University are really what will help you succeed.

No. 2  Graduating and job hunting can be overwhelming – take every opportunity possible, even if you think it’s something completely out of your comfort zone.
