Transfer Tip | Make Sure Credits Transfer Correctly

By Kristi Conrad
Academic Advisor and Transfer Specialist for the College of Arts & Sciences

Sometimes, students with transfer credit may feel that the credit posted to their DARS did not equate exactly as expected. It is completely acceptable to question this and to ask for a second opinion if you believe a course was not equated correctly. Posting credits can be a complicated process involving many rules. That being said, we do not always have all of the information for a course available, and we have to equate with the information provided at the time. Should you want a course reviewed, you will need to bring in a syllabus from the course you completed at your previous institution. The class will be reviewed by an advisor and possibly by faculty members in the department of the course you are questioning. While there is no guarantee that the course can be changed given the many state agreements regarding course credits, there are some that have been changed due to updated information. Should you question a credit and want it re-evaluated, please contact Kristi Conrad (conradk@ohio.edu).
