OPIE and ISU welcome Ohio University faculty, staff, and students to join events with a global touch coming up this week.

OPIE Brown Bag: OPIE Academic Success Workshops

Tanya DovbnyaWhat? Tetyana Dovbnya, international academic adviser in OPIE and the College of Arts & Sciences, shares the essentials of the recently developed academic success workshops with the OPIE faculty. The workshops help OPIE students, who start their academic studies at Ohio University, to transition from the language-learning classroom to the regular academic classes. The presenter will outline the main goals and activities of the four workshops followed by the OPIE Academic Orientation.

International Women’s Coffee Hour

International Conversation Hour

What? Engage in a cross-cultural dialogue! The topic this time is Thanksgiving. Facilitators: Irina Konstantinova and Olga Holland.

When and where? Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Bobcat Student Lounge (Baker first floor)

Face to Face

What? Dr. Gerry Krzic responds to your questions and comments. This is a chance for OPIE students to talk to Krzic about OPIE and share their ideas. Students anonymously submit questions and comments by completing F2F Comment Cards and putting them in the F2F box in Gordy 155 before Friday, Nov. 13. Students also can ask questions face to face at the event on Nov. 17. Drinks and snacks will be provided. The OPIE Student Union sponsors this event.

When and where? Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 5 to 6 p.m. in Gordy Hall 113

OPIE Student Union Potluck Lunch

What? The OPIE Student Union is organizing a Potluck Lunch with the Athens Village (elderly adults in Athens). The Potluck is at Richland United Methodist Church (60 Pomeroy Road, Athens). The activity is at a church, but is not a religious event. If you would like to participate and drive directly to the church, you can. Contact Aldanah if you have any questions  at aa431915@ohio.edu.

When? Saturday, Nov. 21; Meet at 12:30 p.m. in Gordy Parking Lot; return at 3 p.m.
