Global Voices at Ohio University

“Global Voices” is a new video series about the international students at Ohio University. Each of the nine videos covers a different topic and highlights international students perspectives on their college experience at Ohio University, as well as their cultural insights into everyday life in Athens.

Ohio University has an abundance of academic help resources for students. The video “Where to Get Help” explores some important places on campus that provide students with academic help. In this video, international students discuss the importance of utilizing the writing labs, library, academic advising, faculty office hours, supplementary instruction sessions, as well as the importance of collaborating with peers.

“Hello” Campaign

The International Affairs Commission will be hosting an event called “Hello Campaign” this week. OPIE students are encouraged to join in and help create a more diverse campus. The goal of the event is to help domestic students learn more about international culture by teaching them to speak their names in a foreign language, saying “hello” in different languages, and sharing cultural differences. During the conversation, domestic students can learn about intentional cultures and languages. The most important thing is that international students will have opportunities to communicate with domestic students and help build a more diverse campus. The event will educate both domestic and intentional students on cultural differences and provide better perspectives to understanding differences within the cultures.

The event will run  from April 4-8, and it will take place in Baker Center and South Green Beach. We welcome all students to join and enjoy the time of sharing cultures. Use the hashtag #OUHelloCampaign on Twitter. Contact Bowen Shi (bs535712@ohio.edu or 740-856-5432) for more information on how you can participate.
