Ping Institute Teacher Workshop | ‘The Case of the Novel Novelist: One Mystery Writer’s Journey’

The Charles J. Ping Institute for the Teaching of the Humanities presents The Case of the Novice Novelist: One Mystery Writer’s Journey.

This one-day workshop for secondary teachers is Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Ohio University in Athens, OH.

Fourth Down and Out book coverThe workshop leader is Andrew Welsh-Huggins, author of Fourth Down and Out. Welsh-Huggins, a reporter and author of the Columbus-based “Andy Hayes” private detective series, will tell how he turned a childhood love of reading and writing into his dream of writing mystery novels. He will also reveal how some unusual life experiences, from living in an Irish-speaking village to volunteering on an Indian reservation to witnessing several executions, helped shape his world view.

The session will include time for discussion and a mini-mystery writing exercise. The workshop is free and each participant will receive a copy of Fourth Down and Out.
