The College of Arts and Sciences Awards Committee recently selected Dr. Chester Pach, Associate Professor of History at Ohio University, as the recipient of the 2015-16 Jeanette G. Grasselli Brown Faculty Teaching Award in the Humanities.

The award recognizes “superior classroom performance,” “involvement with students beyond the classroom,” and “contributions to a department’s curricular development.” Pach was initially nominated as part of a college-wide open call by the A&S Awards Committee, after which only one faculty member from the College of Arts & Sciences was selected for the award.

During the 2015-16 academic year, Pach offered the following undergraduate courses:

  • HIST 3164/5164: History of U.S. Involvement in World Affairs, 1945-Present
  • HIST 3220/5220: The 1960s in the U.S.: Decade of Controversy
  • HIST 3224/5224: The 1980s in the U.S.: The Age of Reagan and Madonna
  • HIST 6000: Graduate Seminar in U.S. History

Pach is scheduled to offer the following courses in Fall 2016:

  • HIST 3164/5164: History of U.S. Involvement in World Affairs, 1945-Present
  • HIST 3220/5220: The 1960s in the U.S.: Decade of Controversy

Much of Pach’s teaching expertise draws on his scholarly work and that of his broader fields. He is the author of Arming the Free World: The Origins of the United States Military Assistance Program, 1945-1950, and numerous journal articles and book chapters. He is currently completing The Presidency of Ronald Reagan, which will be published as part of the American Presidency Series for the University Press of Kansas.
