Homecoming is always a highpoint of the year for me. Of course I love the parade…and how about that alumni band?!?! But the real high point is the opportunity homecoming provides for visiting with our former students, so many of whom are deeply loyal to this place and this academic institution.

In my over 20 years here, I have had many opportunities to welcome these returnees “home.” Their enthusiasm for OHIO can be contagious, and it renews me to see that so, so many of them are doing good work, really important work, work for social justice. Even before the CLJC existed, there were alumni like our very own Larry Hayman (B.A. Political Science ’03)!!!

These alumni were in no small part the inspiration for the center’s creation, and they continue to be active participants in shaping the future of the center. Among our top priorities is connecting our existing students to those who came before, to those who share their concerns, from immigrant rights, to freedom of the press, from reproductive rights to property rights, from international justice to workers’ rights.

As we put together the schedule for center events this year, keep an eye on it for your fellow Bobcats and know that we want the center to be a place you can always come home to!
