ABSTRACT: Behavioral epidemiology studies the interplay between the spread of infectious diseases and human reactions to it. Mathematical modeling of this topic has seen explosive growth over the last two decades. The speaker will illustrate some potential insights from such modeling with results he jointly obtained with Joan Saldana, David Gerberry, and Ying Xin. He will also briefly describe his book COVID-19 Unmasked: The News, the Science, and Common Sense, which is scheduled to appear next month.
