Apply by Sept. 18 for the new Bobcat Mentorship Program, a formalized matching program that runs from September to December and January to April.

Students will matched with a long-term mentor.

Mentorship is “a process through which someone helps and guides an individual’s advancement professionally and/or personally. This occurs by establishing professional networks and personal development opportunities facilitated by purposeful relationships and events,” according to the program website. “As a part of the formalized long-term program, you will create relationships, and enhance your interpersonal communication skills, amongst other skill sets.”

Program Structure and Expectations

  • Timeline
    • Application Due: Sept. 16, 2019
    • Match Day: Sept. 23, 2019
    • Close Day: Dec. 13, 2019
  • Mentees will have a week to identify three people they believe would be good mentors for them. These selections do not guarantee the mentee will be matched with one of these people, but it will be taken into consideration.
  • Matching will occur and mentees will be responsible for reaching out to mentors to set up a time to talk. Matches are expected to talk at least once a month. Participants can choose to talk more often.
  • Curriculum and conversation starters will be provided with checkpoints along the way.
