Handshake graphic: Meet your potential.

To schedule a Career Coaching appointment with Kacey Schaum, Assistant Director for the Career and Leadership Development Center for the College of Arts & Sciences, students now use Handshake.

Schaum offers career coaching, leadership coaching, and mock interviews for College of Arts & Sciences students. Students can use Handshake to schedule an appointment, or take advantage of Walk-In Wednesday drop-in appointments.

“You may have heard that Bobcat CareerLink is being replaced by the modern career development platform Handshake. You may also be wondering what this new platform does,” Schaum says. “Handshake is a career development, networking, and recruiting tool that will expand opportunities for OHIO students and alumni.”

Handshake offers new features, enabling users to:

  • Access personalized job recommendations based on their major and interests.
  • Register for career fairs and events.
  • Manage on-campus interviews with top companies.
  • Schedule appointments with career centers.

From Fortune 500 to Mom & Pop, Handshake boasts more than 200,000 employers—all of whom can connect with Ohio University at the click of a button.

As Ohio University transitions to this new platform, we have recommendations for students and alumni:

  • If you had a Bobcat CareerLink account, log in and download and save any professional documents (e.g., resumes, cover letters) that have been saved in that system. These will not transfer to the new Handshake account.
  • Get to know Handshake through its comprehensive help center, which includes oh-so-handy two-minute training videos.
