Jessica Roth awarded Sara Katherine Ullman Memorial Internship

Jessica Roth received this year’s Sara Katherine Ullman Memorial Internship and will soon be heading off this summer to work as an intern at Amnesty International office in Washington, D.C.

Roth is an undergraduate in the Honors Tutorial College program in Sociology but also is completing second and third majors in Political Science and Global Studies – War and Peace. She also worked at the Center for Law, Justice, and Culture and will complete the Certificate in Law, Justice & Culture.

Amnesty International logoRoth wowed the Award Committee with her research interests and experience, including field research on the Camino de Santiago in Spain; her study abroad experience in Peru and Northern Ireland; and her work and volunteer experience in areas of social justice and community engagement, including Ohio Legal services, the Women’s Mentorship Program and the Multicultural Activist Coalition.

The Ullman Memorial Internship was established by the family of the late Sara Ullman, who was a student at Ohio University. It is designed to help develop students’ interests in human rights and international affairs by arranging and funding a summer internship at Amnesty International in Washington DC. This tremendous opportunity brings out some our most talented and accomplished students. Congratulations Jessica, and best of luck in Washington!
