Samantha Stewart ’18 is the first Philosophy major to participate in the department’s internship program, serving as an intern for Mollica, Gall, Sloan, and Sillery, the oldest and largest law firm in Athens, Ohio.

Stewart is a senior at Ohio University, majoring in Philosophy Pre-Law, with minors in History and Political Science. She also has a certificates in Professional Leadership and 21st Century Skills from the Career & Leadership Development Center.

“This internship has really helped me focus on which area of law I find most compelling by exposing me to a wide variety of legal situations and processes, and it taught me massive amounts about the federal and local courts systems, and more specifically where they find application in our everyday life,” Stewart said.

“Not only has it furthered my interest in law, but has also pulled together the different theories and systems taught all throughout my coursework which gave me a truly practical interdisciplinary experience to really understand my classes.”

Stewart is the Vice President of the Student Chapter of the ACLU on campus, as well as an international member of Phi Alpha Delta, the pre-law fraternity. She is also a member of I Am That Girl, OHIO’s only female health and wellness group. And she is taking part in the Women’s Center’s mentoring program, for the second year in a row.
