Ohio University alum Abigail (McDonald) Drescher M’09 is the Student Retention Manager at Augusta University. She works primarily with faculty and other staff on campus in student success efforts for upper division students.

“I love what I do because I work with a wide variety of people and disciplines,” she says.

Drescher graduated from the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University with an M.A. in Sociology in 2009.

“My sociology background gives me the skills to understand societal barriers to student success,” she says.

Her OHIO Experience

While she was at OHIO, Drescher learned to view and understand complex problems from a variety of angles.

“This allows me to help offices and people come together and reach desired outcomes related to student success,” she explains.

During her time in Athens she also had the opportunity to serve as a teaching and graduate assistant, which laid a foundation for her that she now uses when she teaches an introductory course to 1st year college students.
