The Norman S. Cohn Research Symposium is Saturday, Sept. 9, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Porter Hall 104, Ohio University.

The day-long symposium honors the late Norman S. Cohn, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Environmental & Plant Biology at Ohio University, by bringing together alumni, faculty and students to showcase current research in plant cell and molecular biology. He passed away on June 29, 2016, and three alumni joined to plan this event.

Alumni Drs. Ralph Quatrano, Dean DellaPenna and Bob Goldberg also established the Norman S. Cohn Research Fellowship in Plant Cell and Molecular Biology in honor of his commitment to undergraduate research.

Symposium participants are invited to present research, either a 20-minute oral presentation or a poster. Emeritus Professors Ivan Smith and John Mitchell plan to be in attendance. And alumni Drs. Ralph Quatrano, Dean DellaPenna and Bob Goldberg also will discuss their research.

Participants also can share memories of Professor Cohn during closing ceremonies.

“We especially hope that alumni and friends will take this opportunity to come back to campus and visit with our current faculty and students,” says Dr. Morgan Vis, Professor & Chair of Environmental & Plant Biology.
