Introduction to Service Learning for Faculty and Community Partners Workshop, Oct. 26, 27

The Center for Campus and Community Engagement offers an “Introduction to Service Learning for Faculty and Community Partners Workshop.”

Two identical sessions will be held:

  • Oct. 26, 9-11 a.m. in Baker Center, Rm. 230
  • Oct. 27, 1-3 p.m. in Baker Center, Rm. 230

Interested individuals can register online. For more information, contact Diana Marvel.

Service learning combines academic learning and community engagement in ways that enhance student learning and development while contributing to communities locally and globally. This workshop provides an introduction to service learning pedagogy and how it can benefit students, faculty and community partners. It also begins to lay the foundation for ways in which faculty can integrate effective service learning into their courses through a review of best practices.

Faculty, instructors and community partners will receive a copy of Barbara Jacoby’s book Service-Learning Essentials and a certificate of participation.

Faculty will also be eligible for mini-grant dollars to implement service learning courses and participation in an eight-week, in-depth workshop on building a service-learning “C” course at Ohio University.
