Café Conversation presents Dr. Brian Schoen, Associate Professor of History, discussing “The U.S. Civil War and Global Crisis: Then and Now,” on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 5 p.m. in the Baker Center Front Room.

“It’s a century in which you have millions of people moving for the first time, a large number of those people moving across the globe,” he said about how globalization accelerated during the 19 th century. “You have trade that is not just connecting across one ocean, but across multiple oceans.”
