Academic Orientation for OPIE Students is Oct. 21

The Ohio Program of Intensive English welcomes Ohio University faculty, staff, and students to join OPIE events this week.

On Wednesday, Oct. 21, 8:30-noon in Baker Center 240, undergraduate students in Advanced and Pre-Academic OPIE classes will attend the orientation:

  • To prepare for meetings with their academic advisers
  • To introduce themselves to the representatives of their respective colleges
  • To help them discover their department’s academic requirements
  • To prepare for academic class registration
  • To meet a wider Ohio University community and representatives from various offices and programs (Office of the Undergraduate Admissions, the Dean of Students, ELIP, CLDC, etc.)
  • To give them an opportunity to talk to OPIE alumni and ask them questions about the start of academic classes

The facilitator is Tetyana Dovbnya.

International Conversation Hour

Wednesday, Oct. 21, 5-6 p.m. in the Bobcat Student Lounge, Baker 1st floor—Engage in a cross-cultural dialogue! Facilitators are Irina Konstantinova and Olga Holland.

OPIE Lecture Series

Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2-3 p.m. in Ellis Hall 024—Speaker Andrea Reany discusses “Getting to Know Your Local Fruits & Vegetables.” The facilitator is Cecily Long.

Creative Arts Club

Saturday, Oct. 24, 1:30-4:30 p.m., meet in Gordy parking lot for the Rock House Trip. To sign up, email the facilitator, Chris Distasio, at distasio@ohio.edu.
