The Ohio University NQPI Seminar Series presents Dr. Dafei Jin, discussing “Quantum Dynamics of Single Electrons in Noble-Gas Quantum Liquids and Solids”  on Thursday, March 19, at 4:10 p.m. in Clippinger Labs 194.

Dafei Jin is a Staff Scientist at the Center for Nanoscale Materials, Argonne National Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. in low-temperature physics from Brown University and has done postdoctoral research in nanoscale quantum electronics and optics at MIT and UC Berkeley. His research interest covers a variety of condensed matter and quantum material systems, including superconductor, superfluid, Bose-Einstein condensate, and single-electron single-photon based quantum devices. Dafei Jin is currently running the Quantum Matter and Devices Lab at Argonne and managing the Nanofabrication and Devices group as an Interim Group Leader.

Abstract:  I will present our experimental and theoretical studies of nonequilibrium quantum dynamics of single electrons in quantum liquid helium, as well as the exotic quantum electronic and optical behaviors at the interface of solid neon and liquid helium. I will also present our recent experimental effort to use the trapped electrons in quantum liquids and solids as reconfigurable long-spin-coherence qubits at ultralow temperature.
