Professor Emeritus of Geography Lynden “Lyn” Williams passed away on May 28 in Buhl, Idaho, according to his obituary.

Williams taught at Ohio University from the early 1970s until he retired in the mid-1990s. He continued to teach in the department as an early retiree for several years after his retirement from full-time teaching. He specialized in the geography of Latin America, especially agriculture and land use. He conducted research in Peru and Ecuador.

“In addition to the geography of Latin America he taught such classes as physical geography, biogeography, agricultural ecosystems, population geography, and statistics. He served as department chair from 1988-1993. Lyn was always asking and seeking answers to interesting questions about geographic and environmental relationships, and enjoyed discussing these with colleagues, students, and friends,” said Dr. Dorothy Sack, Professor and Chair of Geography at OHIO.
