The Arts & Sciences networking night brings alumni and students together for a career development and networking lab with how-to instruction for one-to-one student and alumni networking. Students will receive business cards, engage in the “Art and Science of Networking,” and build their Bobcat network.

Rob Dorans
Rob Dorans ’08 serves as the Chief Legal Counsel for ACT Ohio and manages the Legal & Research Department ACT Ohio. In his role as Chief Legal Counsel, Dorans works directly with 137 affiliated unions and 14 regional Building Trades councils across Ohio. Prior to joining ACT Ohio in 2013, he worked in the Ohio House of Representatives as a legislative aide and managed targeted state house campaigns for the Ohio House Democratic Caucus. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University and also graduated from the University of Toledo College of Law. Dorans is a proud second-generation IBEW member. He is an active volunteer with the Columbus Legal Aid Society and Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Central Ohio. He also serves on the Board of Commissioners for the City of Columbus Parks & Recreation Department. He lives in the city of Columbus with his wife, Lauren, and their rescue pitbull Captain.
Kari Boyle
Creating Healthy Communities
Kari Boyle (’15 BSH in Community Health) is a Certified Health Education Specialist at the Athens City-County Health Department. She is the current coordinator for the Athens County Creating Healthy Communities grant, which works to increase access to healthy food, increase opportunities for physical activity and eliminate tobacco use, through policy, system and environmental changes. Boyle received her bachelor’s in Community Health Services from Ohio University. In addition to her work, she is a Public Health Technician with the Ohio Air National Guard and an Operation Enduring Freedom Veteran. Boyle is passionate about working with community members and creating environments where the healthy choice is the easy choice. Creating Healthy Communities has identified three under-served communities in Athens County and each year prioritizes strategies for these communities. In 2019 CHC will be working on a mobile produce pantry, Produce Prescription pilot, community garden, Tobacco 21, and three community park revitalization projects. The work of CHC cannot be done without the support of community members, who play an integral part in the design and implementation of these projects.
Jennifer Blahnik
Blahnik’s Career Turned from History to Disney’s Epcot Center

Rural Action
Rural Action is a membership-based nonprofit working in the southeast and central eastern counties of Appalachian Ohio since 1991. Its work is about developing the region’s many assets in environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable ways, focusing on sectors such as food and agriculture, forestry, zero waste and recycling, environmental education, and watershed restoration. Emerging work in social enterprise development, local tourism, and energy are more recent parts of its portfolio.

Wayne National Forest
Wayne National Forest is located in the hills of southeastern Ohio, covering over a quarter million acres of Appalachian foothills. The Forest features over 300 miles of trails for hiking, all-terrain vehicle riding, mountain biking, or horseback riding in season.
