Dr. Dagmar Herzog

The 41st Annual Endowed Costa Lecture features Dr. Dagmar Herzog on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 7:30 p.m. in Walter Hall Rotunda. Her topic is “Post-Holocaust Trauma and the Creation of PTSD.”

The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception with refreshments prior to the lecture begins at 7 p.m.

Herzog is Distinguished Professor of History and the Daniel Rose Faculty Scholar at The Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY). She has written extensively on the histories of religion, the Holocaust and its aftermath, and the histories of gender and sexuality. Her most recent books are Cold War Freud: Psychoanalysis in an Age of Catastrophes (2017) and Unlearning Eugenics: Sexuality, Reproduction, and Disability in Post-Nazi Europe (2018).

The Costa Lectureship was established through the generosity of Ohio University alumna Helen Coast Hayes (class of 1926). Previous lecturers include Pulitzer Prize winning authors Doris Kearns Goodwin and Laurel Thatcher Ulrich and noted presidential historians Michael Beschloss and H.W. Brands.
