Griffith Begins Teaching Position in History at Rio Grande

Luke Griffith, a Ph.D. candidate in the History Department, will serve as an adjunct professor at the University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College during the 2018-19 academic year.

At the McArthur Center, Griffith will teach American History II, a course that traces the development of the United States from Reconstruction to the present and pays particular attention to the evolving role of the American president. At the Jackson Center, he will teach World Civilization II, using international relations, especially imperialism and decolonization, as the unifying theme of the class.

Griffith aims to defend his dissertation this academic year. Titled, “Between Green Cheese and the Moon: Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and the Euromissiles,” he is completing it under the direction of Dr. Chester Pach, Associate Professor of History at Ohio University. Griffith was the 2017-18 Contemporary History Institute Baker Peace Fellow.
