Networking Reception for Students and Alumni, Feb. 1

College of Arts & Sciences students (graduate and undergraduate), alumni and community members can shape their future by building a Bobcat network at the Networking Reception for Students and Alumni, on Thursday, Feb. 1, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. (come for whatever fits your schedule) in Baker Ballroom A.

In addition to the reception, Student and Alumni Networking Day on Thursday, Feb. 1, features:

  • Arts & Sciences Alumni Career Panel from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Baker Theatre
  • Alumni Roundtables, Resume Review and Recruiters from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Baker Ballroom B
  • Archivist Kelly Francis from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. in the Baker Theatre

Devin Devor and Adam Metz of Nestle

Devin Devor ’10, ’13M is Microbiology Supervisor at Nestlé Quality Assurance Center, based in Dublin, OH. He earned a B.S. and an M.S. in Biological Sciences from the College of Arts & Sciences. Adam Metz ’09 is is a Quality Assurance Specialist.

Adam Highberger of Nestle Human Resources also will be available to review resumes and talk about internships and jobs with Nestle from 3-5 p.m. in Baker Ballroom.

“After graduating I spent a year working in a Quality Control lab for a pharmaceutical company working on cleaning validations after product had been run,” says Metz. “After that year I got a job at Nestle Quality Assurance Center in the Vitamins Department. My responsibilities in this position were the preparation, analysis by  HPLC and LC-MS/MS, calculation and reporting of vitamin content of food products. After four years in this position, I moved to a factory in Chicago to be the Laboratory Supervisor. In this role I was responsible for the data being produced and the analysts doing the work. I stayed in this role for 1.5 years. In my current role I am responsible for auditing the quality systems of factories and audits of laboratory factories/sub-contractor laboratories to Good Laboratory Practices.”

Devor says “one of my favorite OU memories is swimming at Stroud’s in a rainstorm during a cookout with the LFC (Lost Flamingo Company) theater group.”

Dustin Starkey ’98 is Senior Manager for Abbott Laboratories’ Global Operations Professional Development Program. He provides oversight and strategic direction across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions. He majored in Chemistry.

Pierce J. Reed ’86, Ohio Innocence Project

Pierce J. Reed is the Program Director and Policy Coordinator with the Ohio Innocence Project. He majored in Psychology.

Before joining the Ohio Innocence Project in 2018, Pierce was the senior judicial attorney with Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor at the Supreme Court of Ohio.

David Levy ’78, Mathematics worked for the American Chemical Society in Columbus, leading software engineering departments developing and operating systems.

Lisa Maatz Is a Respected Advocate, in D.C. and at OHIO

Lisa Maatz, a much-respected policy adviser and advocate for women and girls in Washington, D.C., and at OHIO, earned an B.A. in Sociology and Political Science (Pre-Law), in addition to a Women’s Studies Certificate.
