Advising Tip: Changing or Declaring your Major? Do it before Oct. 8

So, you have found a new major that suits you better and decided to make the change, or maybe you have been undecided and have now found the right program—the time to change or declare your major is now, before the Oct. 8 deadline.

How to change or declare your major

  • Before changing or declaring your major, request a What If DARS to see the changes and additions in requirements so that you are sure the new major meets your graduation goals
  • Use this form to change or declare your major in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • Change or declare well before the deadline so you have time in case you discover complications.
  • Change or declare early so you have time to plan your schedule and goals for the new major—and to meet with some faculty to get acquainted and further discuss the program before starting it.

Whether you know your direction, or are still deciding, just be sure that you are planning and working through your plan, and always feel free to contact advisors and faculty for assistance—that is what we are here for!
