The final Sociology & Anthropology Colloquium this semester features two 2020 graduates of the Sociology master’s program discussing their theses on Friday, Dec. 4.

Joy Kostansek

Joy Kostansek will discuss her thesis, titled “A Full Plate: A Case Study Analysis of Anchor Institution Investment in a Regional Food System.” She is currently a local food advocate at Local Food Connection at Creation Gardens – What Chefs Want!, a just-in-time, harvest-to-order local farm partnership program.

Mahbub Bhuyan

Mahbub Bhuyan will discuss his thesis, titled Threads of Protest and Resistance: The Impact of Social Movements on the Development of Laws Protecting Women’s Rights in Bangladesh.” He is currently a doctoral student in the Sociology Department at the University of Miami.
