Only in Your State Calls Dysart Woods a ‘True Hidden Gem’

Old-growth tree in Dysart Woods

“Tucked away in Belmont County and carefully preserved by Ohio University, there’s a 50-acre tract of old-growth oak forest few Ohioans know about,” writes April Day for a story headlined “Explore An Old-Growth Forest In Ohio At Dysart Woods, A True Hidden Gem.”

Often referred to as a “Land of Giants,” this spectacular forest is home to some really beautiful trees—some of which stand more than 140 feet tall with a diameter of 4 feet.

…There are two trails that weave through this magical forest. Both the Blue Trail and Red Trail are just under 1 mile long.
