ELIP Changes Name to Academic and Global Communication Program

Academic and Global Communication Program (formerly ELIP) faculty and graduate students

The English Language Improvement Program is changing its name to the Academic and Global Communication program.

The new name reflects the courses offered and students served by the program, which provides academic and global communication assistance to Ohio University students, both international and domestic.

The Academic and Global Communication program also offers international programs in collaborative relationships with several universities around the world.

The newly named program provides customized instruction and services to help students attain concrete academic and professional communication skills and abilities.

Courses with the ELIP prefix will change to the AGC prefix starting Fall 2020-21:

  • AGC 5140: Academic Writing in Graduate Studies
  • AGC 5160: Writing for Research and Publication
  • AGC 5220: Classroom Communication Skills for Teaching Assistants
  • AGC 5300: Oral Communication in Graduate Studies
  • AGC 5320: Oral Communication for the Graduate Researcher and Presenter
  • AGC 1300: Business Relations and Communication Skills

The course content and credit hours remain the same.

The Academic and Global Communication program also continues to offer in-person and online tutoring for graduate and undergraduate students, specializing in writing within students’ specific fields. It also offers presentation and pronunciation tutoring for graduate students.

Please note that in the Course Offerings, the courses can be found by typing in “Academic and Global Communication” and the AGC prefix will pop up.
