I am a senior here at Ohio University. When I left for spring break this year, I didn’t realize it was the last time I would be leaving Athens.

Although, the news of the current pandemic that started over spring break changed what I thought I would be doing when I returned, I still enjoyed my final spring break as a undergraduate. I went down to Cape Coral, Fla., to visit my family. It is near Fort Myers Beach. My grandparents rent a house down there in the winter and it is right on a canal, with the perfect swimming pool.

My cousins from Pittsburgh went down the same week, so it was a lot of fun catching up with them and spending time with a lot of my family I don’t get to see all of the time. While we were down there, I helped my grandma cook dinner a lot. She thinks the corn in Florida is the best.

We also went to breakfast near the beach a few mornings. It was nice drinking an iced coffee next to the ocean.

The beginning of our trip was actually very chilly, but toward the end of the week it got warmer, and it felt more like beach weather.

Although, I didn’t return home from spring break to what I thought, I am grateful for traveling when I did since social distancing is in effect now.
