Note: This event is canceled.

Girls in grades 6-9 are invited to Tech Savvy, hosted by Ohio University on May 9, 2020.

A full day of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities with scientists runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Walter Hall. The cost is $10 for the day’s activities, including continental breakfast and lunch. Bring one parent or teacher at no additional charge; they will attend their own workshops.

Tech Savvy is a national program that originated with grants from the American Association of University Women. OHIO’s local event is now supported by the AAUW Athens Branch, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Creative Activity, the Women’s Center, and departments in the College of Arts & Sciences, Russ College of Engineering and the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs. Women are underrepresented in STEM jobs, particularly computer science, engineering and physical sciences, but the AAUW Athens branch and OHIO faculty and administrators are working to improve those numbers.
