Ohio University’s 11th Annual Meteorological Symposium is Saturday, March 21, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Walter Hall 235.

The event is free and is open to the public. It is hosted by the Ohio University Chapter of the American Meteorological Society.

Ohio University is one of two schools in Ohio to offer a degree in meteorology. This degree is offered through the departments of Geography and Physics & Astronomy.

Meteorological Symposium Line-Up

  • 11  to 11:15 a.m. — Opening Remarks
  • 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. Jeff Booth, Broadcast Meteorologist at Ch. 10 News
  • 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. — Eric Kelsey. Research Assistant Professor and Director of Research at the Mount Washington Observatory at Plymouth State University
  • 12:15 to 12:25 p.m. — Break
  • 12:25 to 12:55 p.m. — Paul Koval, Supervisor, Air Toxics & Monitoring section of the Ohio EPA’s Division of Air Pollution Control
  • 12:55 pm to 1:25 pm — Tony Edwards, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Charleston, W.V.
  • 1:25 to 2:10 p.m. — Lunch
  • 2:10 to 2:40 p.m. — Jim Sullivan, Operational Meteorologist with WeatherWorks LLC.
  • 2:40 to 3:10 p.m. — Dr. Timothy Dowling, Dynamic Meteorology Professor at the University of Louisville
  • 3:10 to 3:20 p.m. —  Break
  • 3:20 to 3:50 p.m.  —  2nd Lt. James A. Bride, Weather Officer at 178th Operations Support Squadron at the Springfield Air National Guard Base in Ohio
  • 3:50 to 4:20 p.m. — Becky DePodwin, Private sector meteorologist and emergency preparedness specialist with AccuWeather
  • 4:20 to 4:30 p.m. — Closing Remarks
