Community Food Initiatives is looking for Community Garden Volunteer Interns and School Garden Volunteer Interns.

Community Food Initiatives is located at 94 Columbus Road, Athens, Ohio. Garden sites include Athens City Eastside, Nelsonville, Hope Drive, and Athens City Southside. There are multiple school garden sites throughout Athens County.

“Are you the type of person that loves to work outdoors and feel accomplished to see the hard work you’ve put into a flourishing garden? Volunteering at one of our community gardens will allow you to do just that, as well as meet new people in your community and provide them with guidance on producing their own nutritious food,” according to a flier.

“Our School Gardens Intern will work outside in the school gardens, as well as inside elementary school classrooms. They will work together with Community Food Initiatives staff to develop and teach fun, engaging, hands-on lessons to students in various grades throughout Athens County. This exciting internship provides a variety of experiences and is extremely rewarding for those interested in early childhood education and food sustainability.

For more information, contact Ohio University alum Molly Gassaway, Director of Garden Programs for the Community Food Initiatives, as 740-593-5971 or molly@communityfoodinitiatives.org.
