Although women hold close to half of all jobs in the U.S. economy, they hold less than 25 percent of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) jobs. The AAUW Athens branch and OHIO faculty and administrators are working to improve those numbers.

Tech Savvy is a national program that originated with grants from the American Association of University Women but the local event is now supported by the AAUW Athens Branch, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Creative Activity, the Women’s Center, and departments in the College of Arts & Sciences, Russ College of Engineering and The Voinovich School

The American Association of University Women empowers women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. The nonpartisan, nonprofit organization has more than 170,000 members and supporters across the United States, as well as 1,000 local branches and more than 800 college and university partners. Since AAUW’s founding in 1881, members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day — educational, social, economic, and political.
