The Psychology Colloquium Series presents Dr. Brad Okdie on “Can Burdensome Facebook “Friends” Cause You Pain? Self-reported Pain and Tolerance as Motivations for Exclusion” on Friday, March 8, at 11:50 a.m. in Porter 102.

Dr. Okdie is an associate professor at the Newark campus of The Ohio State University. He previously earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Toledo, a master’s degree in social psychology from The University of Northern Iowa, and a doctorate in social psychology from The University of Alabama.

According to his faculty page, Dr. Okdie is a social psychologist who studies the effect of media on interpersonal relationships. He directs The Relationships & Technology Lab at The Ohio State University at Newark. The Relationships & Technology Lab’s primary focus lies at the intersection of social psychology and media. Specifically, the lab investigates the emergence, maintenance, and ending of relationships through media.
