Smucker Gets Ohio University Research Committee Funding

The Ohio University Research Committee has selected four faculty proposals, including Dr. Thomas Smucker, for funding during its fall 2018 cycle. In total, the committee awarded $26,462.

Smucker, Associate Professor of Geography, received $7,905 for his project on “Foundations for Convergence: Bridges and Barriers between Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation under Two Models of Devolution in East Africa.”

The program, which is funded by the Vice President for Research and Creative Activity, provides seed money for new faculty and administrative staff members or established applicants seeking to start a new direction in their research. Applicants may request up to $8,000 per proposal. The committee received a total of 15 proposals requesting $110,683 in funding.

Proposals Now Accepted for Spring Awards Cycle

The Ohio University Research Committee is accepting proposals for its spring cycle through Feb. 7.
