Dr. Robert Colvin
Dr. Robert Colvin, Professor and Chair Biological Sciences, has become a VoiceThread Certified Educator.
VoiceThread is an interactive collaboration and sharing tool that enables users to add images, documents and videos, and to which other users can add voice, text, audio file or video comments. It can be used in lieu of discussion boards for distributing course content or for creative educational projects.
To earn this credit, Colvin completed a two-week, online certification course. He also was required to create a capstone project demonstrating mastery of VoiceThread’s features and exhibiting sound pedagogy through lesson design and quality feedback. Colvin used VoiceThread in his course BIOS 4100X – Biological Pharmacology. His capstone project involved a discussion group where students discussed and revised their final term papers with student peers.
Students and faculty can access VoiceThread through BlackBoard. Colvin would be happy to assist other faculty interested in using VoiceThread in their courses.
