Career Corner | Americorps Position with Ohio’s Hill Country Heritage Area

The Winding Road and Ohio’s Hill Country Heritage Area has an AmeriCorps position for a recent college graduate: Civic Tourism Liaison with Ohio’s Hill Country Heritage Area, starting in mid-August.

Americorps logoThis position will focus on education and economic development through tourism in Appalachian Ohio, specifically in Monday and Sunday Creek watersheds. Outreach education including planning and facilitation of regional meetings, organization and development of volunteer cleanups and events with an educational component, linkages with other tourism organizations and activities and coordination with Zero Waste festival activities is included in the member responsibilities.

The applicant should have an interest in education, tourism, economic development or marketing, with good organizational and communication skills. Keen interest in economic development around tourism and preservation of historic sites is needed. See full position description.

“This is an ideal position for a history, journalism, marketing, recreation, entrepreneurship, business, or tourism graduate who wants to be of service before embarking on a career. Writing and organizational skills are important. The ability to work independently on defined projects is important, as well as good interpersonal and organizational skills,” said John Winnenberg of Winding Road. The position will report to him.
