Students for Law, Justice and Culture Calls for Officer Applications

Students for Law, Justice and Culture invites students to apply for executive positions, including president, vice president/treasurer, and secretary.

Positions are open to all students. It is not necessary to be a dues-paying member of SLJC to apply.

To nominate yourself or another student, please email Center for Law, Justice & Culture faculty adviser Dr. Haley Duschinski at duschins@ohio.edu  specifying the position you’re interested in, with a small paragraph describing your academic interests and qualifications for that position.

The deadline is Friday, April 13.

Anyone interested in running for an executive position must attend on of the following two meetings: 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, or Wednesday, April 11, in the CLJC student lounge (Bentley Hall Room 001).

Students for Law, Justice & Culture logoStudents for Law, Justice and Culture is a student organization affiliated with the Center for Law, Justice and Culture, an interdisciplinary group of faculty and students that examines law in relation to society, culture, politics, and power, in U.S. and international contexts.

Students for Law, Justice and Culture promotes informed critical inquiry about law campus-wide, through activities and events on gender equality, mass incarceration, race relations, criminal justice, immigration and refugee policy, solitary confinement, prison abolition, human rights activism, and many other areas.

  • The president will be responsible for leading weekly meetings, planning events and communicating with members.
  • The vice president/treasurer is responsible for working with the president on event planning and maintaining control of SLJC’s finances.
  • The secretary is responsible for taking and sending out meeting minutes and helping with the advertising of events.\
  • The OIP-u liaison is responsible for communication and event planning with the University of Cincinnati Innocence Project
