The Environmental and Plant Biology Colloquium Series presents Dr. Seth DeBolt on “Chemical and genetic dissection of cellulose biosynthesis” on Friday, March 23, at 11:50 a.m. in Porter Hall 104.

DeBolt is a Professor in the Department of Horticulture at the University of Kentucky, Lexington.

Abstract: Cellulose is needed for cellular expansion in higher plants. Here, I will present our efforts to study the fundamental mechanisms of cellulose biosynthesis in plants using chemical and genetic tools. The practical application of this research relates to developing research tools, herbicide discovery as well as the rational design of plant cell walls.
