Apply for Center for Student Legal Services Board by March 30

The Ohio University Center for Student Legal Services is taking applications for positions on its Board of Directors for the 2018-19 academic year. The application requires a form as well as a resume to be provided to the CSLS by March 30. Interviews will be conducted thereafter.

CSLS is a not for profit firm that represents and advises Ohio University students on a variety of legal issues, including both criminal and civil cases. The firm has a criminal defense attorney, a civil litigation attorney, an office manager, and a receptionist. The Board of Directors acts as the governing body for CSLS, and students on the board play a vital role in furthering the mission and existence of CSLS. The board elects three officers including chairperson, vice chairperson, and treasurer.

“Students, especially those interested in law, will gain valuable practical knowledge about managing a legal practice by working with lawyers Patrick McGee and Kim Frances,” says Center for Law, Justice & Culture Pre-Law Specialist Larry Hayman, who serves as adviser to the Board of Directors. In addition students gain valuable law firm management and leadership experience.

Students can apply for one or two-year terms and students with interest or experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Finance, accounting
  • Personnel, human resources
  • Administration, management
  • Nonprofit experience
  • Community service
  • Policy development
  • Program evaluation
  • Public relations

Students can contact the CSLS for more information.
