According to Albert Einstein, “The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.”

How can you be imaginative while choosing classes for the next semester? Especially when you may feel overwhelmed just completing the basic required classes? The answer is simple – explore! Let your passions and interests outside of your major guide you in choosing some of your classes. Explore areas that you have never studied before and you may surprise yourself by finding new passions or a new path in life.

A good way to build exploratory courses into your schedule without impacting your graduation timeline are the Liberal Arts Distribution hours. As an Arts & Sciences student, you need at least 9 hours each in Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences. If you plan ahead with your adviser, you can also use these hours to help complete a minor or certificate. Arts & Sciences Themes can also be a great way to explore a secondary interest.

So while you are working on those spring schedules and eagerly waiting to push the enter button when your enrollment time hits, be sure to check out the wide range of courses that Arts & Sciences has to offer.
