Common Experience Project on Sustainability | Ice and Sky, Feb. 8

The Common Experience Project on Sustainability unites Ohio University and the region through sustainability education with free screenings on Wednesdays from 7-9 p.m. at the Athena Cinema, 20 S. Court St. in Athens.

Feb. 8—Ice and Sky

Ice and Sky is a major feature film directed by Luc Jacquet, director of March of the Penguins, recounts a lifelong investigation deep in the ice of the Antarctic. A scientific adventure which has brought climate change to light.

Feb. 22—Sonic Sea

The symphony of life is being disrupted by the industrialized noise that has become commonplace in our oceans today – with tragic and deadly costs.

Pangolin Endangered Species (short film)

Journey of a single Pangolin, from the moment it is taken from the wild to its final destination in China.

Monarchs: The Milkweed Mission (short film)

Tracks the amazing year-long path of North America’s main Monarch butterfly population from North America to Michoacan Mexico.

March 15—The Hand That Feeds

Explores the sustainability of the restaurant food industry, battle for workers’ rights, human dignity and immigrants social justice.

March 29—Landfill Harmonic

The film explores the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, a Paraguayan group that plays instruments made entirely out of garbage. Special event with the Voinovich School and Rural Action Zero Waste Team.

April 12—Catching the Sun

Through the stories of workers and entrepreneurs in the United States and China, Catching the Sun captures the global race to lead the clean energy future.

April 19—Messenger–Earth Day special

Brings us face-to-face with perils that challenge the migratory world of birds. Solutions abound for these migratory music makers. In celebration of Earth Day.
