The community is invited to meet Athens’ new Poet Laureate, Ohio University alum Alison Stine, and view the Dairy Barn Arts Center’s 2016 OH+5 Exhibition on Thursday March 3, from 5-8 p.m.

Admission is free, with a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres. At meet and greet with Stine is at 6:30 p.m., , and at 7 p.m. she performs a reading of her work presented by the Athens’ Municipal Arts Commission.

Stine is a 2013 graduate of Ohio University’s Ph.D. program in Creative Writing.

Stine is the author of a novel SUPERVISION (HarperCollins, 2015) along with the poetry books: WAIT (University of Wisconsin Press, 2011), OHIO VIOLENCE (University of North Texas Press, 2009), and the chapbook LOT OF MY SISTER (The Kent State University Press, 2001). Her work has appeared in dozens of magazines and journals including: The Nation, The Paris Review, Virginia Quarterly Review, Poetry, and The Kenyon Review. A former Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University, she was also a recipient of the Ruth Lilly Fellowship from the Poetry Foundation. She holds a PhD from Ohio University, an MFA from the University of Maryland, and a BA from Denison University. In 2015, she was awarded an Individual Artist Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).
