Upcoming Study Abroad Opportunities in Ecuador
Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)

The TEFL program will run June 7-July 16 this summer. Students participate in a 5-day traveling orientation session, live with a host family in the colonial city of Cuenca, visit amazing cultural sites and study TEFL with American professors (while earning 6 LING credits from Ohio University). While in Cuenca, students take classes in the morning, have the afternoon free to study and work on lesson plans, and then teach in the evening. It is an intensive program, but at the end of a short 6 weeks, you will earn a TEFL certificate so you can teach abroad anywhere! At the end of the program, students travel to the beach to relax before returning to the U.S. The program application deadline is February 15. Scholarship application deadlines are February 1. It is absolutely fine to apply for scholarships before applying for the program. All current financial aid and scholarships apply (if normally available in the summer), and out-of-state students pay in-state tuition. There are also two optional trips during the semester: one to the Galápagos Islands and another to Machu Picchu in Peru! The program application deadline is February 15.
