Sociology Alum Named Director of Workforce Development Board

Ohio University alum Scott Zielinski has been hired by Athens County as director for Workforce Development Board, reports the Athens Messenger.

Zielinski earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University.

The Athens County Commissioners are adding an employee to the county payroll, but the cost will be reimbursed.

Scott Zielinski of The Plains has been selected as director of the Workforce Development Board Area 14, through which federal dollars flow for local jobs programs. Area 14 includes Athens, Meigs and Perry Counties….

Zielinski comes to the director position from The Work Station, where he was supervisor. The Work Station is part of Athens County Job and Family Services, where Zielinski has worked since 2000. He has worked at the agency as a child support investigator, social program coordinator and then special projects coordinator before moving to The Work Station.
“We’re very happy to see Scott move into this position. He has the experience and the passion to make this work well,” said Arian Smedley, spokeswoman for Athens County Job and Family Services. “We’re sad to see him leave our agency, but we know he is the right person for this job.”
