‘Feeding Athens’ Food Drive Finale | Drop Off at 3 p.m. Dec. 15 in Baker

Recent food collected in the drive is filling Steve Scanlan’s office–but let’s see if we can hit a ton by Dec. 15.

Finals are over—but there’s one more voluntary assignment for folks still in Athens. Go to your pantry or the grocery store tonight and select a few non-perishable food items to bring to campus on Tuesday.

The Fall Food Drive—with a goal of collecting one ton of food—wraps up with a final collection and a gingerbread contest creation honoring the theme “Feeding Athens.”

  • The food drop off (and gingerbread “people’s choice” voting) is Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. in the Baker Center West 82 food court.

box of food for donationFaculty and staff from College of Arts & Sciences and two themes—Food Studies and Wealth & Poverty—are participating in the ninth-annual Ohio University Gingerbread House Decorating Contest. Two “Feeding Athens” entries will encompass the concepts of:

All food collected on Dec. 15 will go to the Athens Food Pantry.

The food drive is the Wealth & Poverty theme’s fall service and outreach activity. For more information on the food drive, contact Dr. Stephen Scanlan, Associate Professor of Sociology.
