CLJC Hosts Kantrowitz Book Release on Dec. 3

The Center for Law, Justice & Culture hosts a book release and signing event for alum R. Marc Kantrowitz’s newest release, Old Whiskey and Young Women: American True Crime: Tales of Murder, Sex and Scandal on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 5-6:30 p.m. in Bentley 140.

Old Whiskey and Young Women book coverThe book, written by Glidden Visiting Professor and Jurist-in-Residence R. Marc Kantrowitz, explores “some of the most notorious legal cases in American history…. What [the cases] have in common is that they titillated, if not repulsed, the entire nation when they first occurred. What they still have in common is that, for the most part, they are today nearly totally forgotten.”

Kantrowitz graduated from Ohio University in 1972 with a B.A. in History and earned his master’s degree in Political Science from Ohio University in 1974. In 1978, he earned a J.D. from University of Toledo College of Law.  He went on to have a successful legal career as a district attorney, private practice attorney, and trial court judge, until retiring from the appeals court bench in Massachusetts earlier this year.  He is currently teaching HIST 3070: Famous Trials in American History, based on his book Old Whiskey and Young Women: American True Crime Tales of Murder, Sex and Scandal.

All proceeds from book sales at the event benefit the Center for Law, Justice & Culture.
