Alum Published First Novel in HarperCollins Contest

Ohio University alum Alison Stine ’13Ph.D. won a HarperCollins writing contest and had her first novel published in April, with paperback planned in October, reports WTSP Ch. 10 news in Tampa Bay.

Stine earned a Ph.D. in English from the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University.

Alison Stine was among a dozen winners through publishing giant HarperCollins. Her book is titled “Supervision.”

“It’s the first time they ever did this,” Stine said. “They decided to open the doors to writers without agents.

“I had several manuscripts. I figured I’d never hear from them.”

Stine lives in Athens, where she received her doctorate in English from Ohio University in 2013. She wrote three previous books of poetry, and her stories have appeared in publications such as The Nation and the Huffington Post….

She already has another work in progress. A novella titled “The Protectors” will be out, possibly this fall, as an Amazon Kindle single.
