Biology Alum Writes Book About Joy of Being a Doctor

“People write books for a variety of reasons and Dr. Michael Day is no different,” writes Journal News reporter Ed Richter.

Day earned a B.S. in Biological Science from the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University.

Lessons My Patients Taught Me book coverOut of a concern that the rules, regulations, fear of malpractice suits are making younger doctors wonder about their choice of profession and older doctors that have been around for awhile are retiring early because of these deep frustrations. They also know “the golden years” of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s are long gone. Day wanted to get the focus back on practicing medicine and the joy of helping people.

After being encouraged by friends, he recently wrote and published a book of some of his medical memoirs entitled “Lessons My Patients Taught Me.”

“I wanted to relate some of the joy I got out of practicing medicine,” said Day, a 1965 graduate of Middletown High School. “It mostly centers around my patient contacts and has humorous and inspirational anecdotes.”
